Recognizing the Attention Deficit Disorder

Everyone around the world has heard of the attention deficit disorder. It may even appear as if everyone else's child has it. There have been some studies conducted that have reported that somewhere between three and five percent of all children have the attention deficit disorder.

Defiant Child Behavior problems

When you put that into prospective, you could say that in any classroom given there is at least one child that has the attention deficit disorder. Children that suffered from this condition are known to appear as if they are out of control. They reflect signs of being unusually active.

They have a tendency of functioning by impulse and without any thinking. These children appear to not be able to pay close attention for a long period of time. Normally, the child's lack of attention will come on last within the sequence.

It could take months for the child to demonstrate such abnormalities. It is also very common for children that have ADD to go undiagnosed because of the fact that their behavior is just written off as a serious discipline issue.

It can be easy to believe that this disorder to relate to discipline because generally the symptoms development is very gradual. Historically, a child that has been well-behaved will slowly become less in control, and because of that, the adults take all of the reasons in stride.

Since it is very difficult to notice the potential cases of attention deficit disorder, all the issues could very well be considered a disciplinary problem. One clue may be if the child demonstrates all three of these traits; inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. It is very vital that a professional make this diagnosis, since the symptoms could possibly be something else.

Even though the attention deficit disorder normally involves the very young and young children, it does seem to have a lesser history among teenagers and adults the same. In addition to all of the typical symptoms that have been discussed, adults and teens somehow feel the need to always do something that keeps them busy. They also have a tendency to multi-task and they feel guilty if they aren't highly active. Adults and teens have a tendency to retain their impulsiveness.

Overall, there are several possible causes of the attention deficit disorder. It could quiet possibly be a brain injury or genetics, or maybe your diet or allergies. There are also several other medical concerns that are known to be associated with ADD and they can also be present within patients that don't have ADD.

Among all of these disorders, you will find learning disabilities, Tourette's syndrome, anxiety, bipolar disorder and depression. Overall, if you think that your child may be reflecting signs of an attention deficit disorder or if you think you may be experiencing some of the signs yourself, you should contact your physician.
